Dear friends,
Here are our Prayers for this Sunday, the 5th in Lent. Today’s Gospel is from John and describes the raising of Lazarus (John 11.1-45, a long Gospel). It gives us hope in tragic times. Jesus tells his friends he is the Resurrection and the Life, and Martha’s response is a cry of faith - I believe you are the Messiah. Let us pray. Most merciful God, who by the death and resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ delivered and saved the world: grant that by faith in him suffered on the cross we may triumph in the power of his victory; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord... O God the maker and Redeemer of all, grant to us, with your servant Mary and all the faithful departed, the sure benefits of your Son’s saving passion and glorious resurrection; that in the last day, when you gather all things up in Christ, we may with them enjoy the fullness of your promise; through Jesus Christ... The Almighty God, who is a strong tower for all who put their trust in him, to whom all things in heaven, on earth, and under the earth bow and obey, be now and evermore your defence, and make you know and feel that the only name under heaven given for health and salvation, is the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen To God’s gracious mercy and protection we commit you. The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you, the Lord look kindly on you and give you his peace, and the blessing of God Almighty, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, be with you and all those you love now and always. Amen John
